The Museum of Evolution protects and displays Uppsala University's natural history collections - fossils, minerals, animals, and plants. We have more than 5 million specimens in our collections.

The material is available not only to researchers who come from near and far, but also to all our visitors for inspiration and education.

Museum of Evolution Zoology: Animals from all over the world are displayed next to skeletons and anatomical preparations.

Museum of Evolution Palaeontology and Mineralogy: Fossils and minerals tell the history of Earth and life. We have the largest collection of genuine dinosaur skeletons in Scandinavia.

Museum of Evolution Botany: The herbarium contains more than three million preserved plant specimens.


The Museum of Evolution Zoology will be closed from the 1 June 2015. We plan to open again in the autumn of 2016 with renovated exhibitions and new lighting. The Museum of Evolution Palaeontology remains open.
